Two species of the genus Sciurus are distributed in Azerbaijan: Sciurus (Tenes) anomalus Guldenstaedt, 1792 – Caucasian squirrel and Sciurus (Sciurus) vulgaris L., 1758 – Common squirrel. The kariotype of the Caucasian squirrel has been investigated by using common, G-, C- and AgNOR staining methods. The karyotype of the Caucasian squirrel has been compared with data from the scientific literature and some differences have been found in chromatin component of the squirrels from Azerbaijan. Thus,
